Alternative process for young adults
who left high school
The intention of this endeavor is to correct an ongoing tragedy occurring to many of our youth and the wasting of an important national resource – our children.
Our public school systems are designed to educate not to handle or resolve the social or personal issues of a particular family that affects a particular child. However, many of our young people experience
developmental injuries caused by poverty, marginalization, broken families,
multiple living arrangements, health issues, abandonment, neglect, and sexual,
physical and emotional abuse. Each year there continue to be millions of young
people overwhelmed by their plight who are unable to complete their education.
We stigmatize these young adults by labeling them “dropout” when, in reality, they
are traumatized and insecurely attached students. Quite often they become our next
generation of welfare recipients, preventable mental health problems, homeless,
involved in criminal activities and incarcerated.
Our goal is to bring enough attention to this situation, that eventually we will be able
to create a foundation with an endowment large enough to develop small schools
modeled after the late Futures Academy of Aurora.
